Can you give me medical advice by e-mail?

Unfortunately, we can’t provide medical advice via e-mail. However, if you are a Duke Health patient, you can send messages to your doctor -- and receive replies -- through Duke MyChart, our secure online website. Learn more about Duke MyChart.

How can I request medical records?

Requests for medical records must be made in writing. See ourmedical recordspage for more information.

How can I obtain a birth or death certificate?

You can request a birth or death certificate online at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services'Vital Records departmentweb page. Or call NC HHS at 919-733-3000. Duke University Health System does not provide copies of birth or death certificates.

How can I find classes and events that are happening at Duke Health?

Visit DukeHealth.org’sevent calendar,which includes classes, lectures, and more.

How do you address the privacy and security of personal health information?

How do I give a star rating or review for a doctor?

To ensure star ratings and comments are from actual patients, ratings and reviews data is collected through third-party surveys that aredistributed after a patient visits a Duke Health doctor in an outpatient clinic office. At this time, patients cannot add ratings and reviews directly to a doctor's profile, and ratings are not included on DukeHealth.org for patients who were discharged from the hospital, have undergone a procedure, or received care at an urgent care clinic or in the emergency department.Find out more about our survey process.

Where can I find maps and floor plans of Duke Hospitals?

You can find maps here, or by clicking on “Patients and Visitors” at the top of the DukeHealth.org screen and selecting “Maps” in the “Plan Your Visit” section.

What emergency rooms are available and how do I get to them?

If an emergency is life-threatening, call 911. Do not attempt to drive yourself or your loved one to the hospital.

For non-life-threatening emergencies, Duke Health operates emergency rooms at each of our three hospitals. For more information, see:

How do I contact a specific doctor?

To reach a doctor by phone, call his or her office number. You can look it up using our Find A Doctor tool. You can also send a secure online message to a Duke Health doctor you’ve already seen by logging into DukeMyChart.org.

How can I contact a patient at one of Duke’s facilities?

Please see the visitor information page for the hospital where the patient has been admitted. It provides information on visiting or contacting patients, including how to reach patients by phone or send messages.

Where can I find listings for jobs at Duke Health?

What is Duke MyChart?

Duke MyChart is a secure website where you can access and manage your personal health information. Learn more about Duke MyChart.

How can I sign up for Duke MyChart?

If you’ve already seen a Duke Health doctor, you can access Duke MyChart using the activation code on your printed after-visit summary. If you don’t have an activation code, you can request one by clicking the 'Sign Up Online' button on this page or by contacting Duke Customer Service at 919-620-4555 or 800-782-6945, 8 am -5 pm ET Monday through Friday.

How do I contact technical support for Duke MyChart?

Appointments

How can I make an appointment?

To speak with someone regarding an appointment, call 919-626-3891. Learn more about the options formaking an appointment.

Why can I make appointments online for some doctors and not others?

Not all doctors are set up for online scheduling. If you’d like to make an appointment with a doctor but online scheduling is unavailable, please call 919-626-3891 or call the doctor’s office directly.

I have an appointment. How do I find out when and where it is?

For information about an appointment you’ve already scheduled, check Duke MyChart or call 888-275-3853.

How do I find a hospital or facility?

Does Duke Health provide remote second opinions?

We provide written, remote second opinions for nearly every health concern in children and adults, including all types of cancer, organ transplants, heart disease, total joint replacement, and other orthopaedic conditions.

Billing

What health plans does Duke University Health System accept?

We accept many health plans, but your coverage depends on your insurance company and which facility you are visiting. For information about insurance we accept, visit ourhealth insurancesection.

How can I pay my bill online?

Visit our secure patient website,Duke MyChart, to pay a bill online with a credit card. You can also view your payment history, see your billing statements, and more.

Who can I contact with questions about my bill?

What if I can’t pay my bill? Is there any financial assistance available?

If you can’t pay your bill in full, please contact customer service at 919-620-4555 or 800-782-6945 to ask about financial assistance. Our account representatives and financial care counselors can assist you with filling out applications for government-sponsored programs. They can also describe monthly payment plans and other financial assistance programs that may be available if you meet certain financial criteria.
