Are you a fan of Nutella or other hazelnut spreads? I am! I am also addicted to cookies. Bring those two things together and you have one incredible match, Nutella cookies.

And the cool thing is, these are some of the easiest cookies around and only require 3 ingredients. Yes, you read that correctly, only 3 ingredients!

If you love Nutella and you love cookies, you have got to give this simple 3-ingredient Nutella cookies recipe a try. These are the perfect cookies to make if you don’t have very much time because they are so quick to make.

If I can do it, you can do it. Let’s get baking!

Step 1: Gather the Ingredients

To make these delicious 3-ingredient Nutella Cookies you need the following simple ingredients:

  • Nutella – You can’t make Nutella cookies without Nutella. Well, you can, use any of your favorite hazelnut spreads. The store brand tends to be a little cheaper, so feel free to use that if you like. Or use homemade Nutella if you make your own.
  • Flour – Use all purpose flour also known as plain flour.
  • Egg

NOTE: There are optional ingredients that you can add like salt, walnuts or pecans, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and butter if you like.

Tools

  • Bowl
  • Sturdy spoon
  • Sifter or just whisk the flour first
  • Fork
  • Sheet pan
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

Step 2: How to make Nutella cookies with just 3 ingredients

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 F/176 C.

Add the Nutella chocolate spread to a large bowl or other hazelnut spread. If you buy the 13 oz/371g size jar of Nutella you can just use that whole thing, which is just slightly more than 1 cup.

NOTE: If the room temperature of your house is cold the Nutella may be firm and hard to work with. You can heat it a little bit to soften it, but not much.

Then add the large egg and mix. Once complete it will start to resemble a thick brownie batter/dough.

NOTE: At this time you can add optional ingredients like chopped pecans, walnuts, a splash of vanilla extract, and about 2 Tablespoons of softened butter. But they are so yummy just with the basic three ingredients, I encourage you to try that first.

Now add in the flour about 1/3rd of it at a time. I sift the flour in, but that isn’t necessary, you can whisk it beforehand as well. Use a sturdy wooden spoon to mix it or a stand mixer with a dough hook, or you can try your beaters with a hand mixer as well.

This cookie dough gets thick. I like to use a fork after using a sturdy spoon to mix it in at the end. If you want to add any extras like chocolate chunks, chocolate chips, walnuts, pecans, etc. You can add them now.

Step 3: Roll and bake that Nutella cookie dough

Now using very clean hands, grab a heaping tablespoon worth of cookie dough and roll it up into a ball then place it on a sheet pan or other baking tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Or of course, you can use a standard cookie sheet as well.

If you want the cookies to be flatter you can press them down a bit with your palm. Otherwise, they will turn out fatter and domed, which is how I like them.

Now time to bake those yummy Nutella cookies for 10 to 15 minutes. The time will vary depending on your oven and how large you make the cookies.

You should be able to get 12 to 15 cookies from this batch of Nutella cookie dough.

They are done when the top of the cookies are slightly cracked and feel a little dry to the touch. Allow them to cool for a few minutes then transfer them to a wire rack or other cooling rack to cool completely.

Give it a taste! They will taste like a mixture between a cookie and a brownie but have Nutella flavor. And they should be slightly fudgy on the inside. I love eating these delicious cookies with a cold glass of milk. These are such an easy cookie to make. Enjoy!

Is there a substitute for eggs?

I have not tried this recipe with any egg substitutes. If you have one that you regularly use with cookies, then give that a try.

Here are some egg substitutes you can try (per egg):

  • 2 Tbsp of water with 1 Tbsp of oil
  • 1 Tbsp of cornstarch with 2 Tbsp of water
  • Half of a banana that has been mashed
  • 1/4th cup of applesauce.

These are the common ones but I haven’t tried them all so I can’t say how well they will work with this recipe.

How long do Nutella cookies last?

These cookies will last 4 to 5 days if stored in an airtight container or a bowl with plastic wrap. You can also freeze them to extend their life to about 1 to 2 months.
