About the system
What is the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system?
Nintendo Switch – OLED Model is a new member of the Nintendo Switch family of systems, released October 8, 2021. It includes a 7-inch vibrant OLED screen, a wide adjustable stand for tabletop mode, a dock with a built-in wired LAN port for use in TV mode, 64 GB of internal storage, and enhanced audio for handheld and tabletop play. Just like Nintendo Switch, you can play on a TV, share the detachable Joy-Con controllers for multiplayer fun, or take the system on the go to enjoy its play-anywhere versatility.
What are the differences between Nintendo Switch – OLED Model and Nintendo Switch systems?
Nintendo Switch – OLED Model has a larger, 7-inch OLED screen that displays more vibrant images, a wider and adjustable stand, more expansive internal storage (64 GB), enhanced audio during handheld and tabletop play, and is bundled with a dock with a built-in wired LAN port.

What are the benefits of an OLED screen?
An Organic Electro-Luminescent Display (OLED) screen uses luminescent material to display color and does not require a backlight that LCD screens use. This makes it possible to display more vivid colors, deeper blacks, and crisper contrasts.
Are all Nintendo Switch games and accessories compatible with the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system?
The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model supports TV mode, tabletop mode, handheld mode, and all controllers compatible with Nintendo Switch systems, so the full library of Nintendo Switch games can be played on the system. However, due to the larger screen size and greater system length, some game experience may differ and the system may not fit cleanly within all Nintendo Labo Toy-Con. For full compatibility information on the Nintendo Switch family of systems, see Nintendo Switch Software Play Mode, Accessory, and Features Compatibility FAQ.
Due to the larger screen of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, screen protectors intended for Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite systems may not fit correctly. When purchasing an officially licensed screen protector, confirm that it is intended for Nintendo Switch – OLED Model.
What is included with the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system in a standard bundle?
When purchasing a standard Nintendo Switch – OLED Model bundle, you will receive the main console unit, a dock with built-in LAN port, one left and one right Joy-Con controller, two Joy-Con wrist straps, one Joy-Con Grip with an engraved Nintendo Switch logo, one AC Adapter, and one HDMI cable.
I was going to place the screen protector on my OLED but realized there is a film already. Can I peel it off?
There is an anti-scattering adhesive film on the OLED screen of the console. Do not peel off this adhesive film. If you would like to use the screen protector film, please use it on top of the anti-scattering adhesive film.
I placed a screen protector over the anti-scattering film on my system. If I remove the screen protector, will the anti-scattering film peel off?
No. The anti-scattering film is applied in such a way that an officially licensed screen protector can be installed and re-applied as necessary. Please follow any instructions included with the screen protector for proper removal.
I already have a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite system. How can I play my games on a Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system?
If you will play your games on both systems, see our information on How to Play Your Games Across Multiple Systems.
If you are trading your current Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite system in exchange for a Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system, be sure to transfer your user and save data to the new system while you are in possession of both systems.
Can I use my Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system in the dock without a built-in LAN port?
Yes, the Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system can be used with the Nintendo Switch dock without a LAN port.
About the Nintendo Switch dock with LAN port
What are the differences between the Nintendo Switch dock and the dock with LAN port?
In addition to stylistic and form factor differences, each dock includes different connection ports.
The dock model no. HEG-007 (included with standard Nintendo Switch – OLED Model bundles) has two USB 2.0 ports, one USB-C AC Adapter port, one HDMI port, and one LAN port so that you can connect an ethernet/LAN cable (sold separately) to establish a wired internet connection.
The dock model no. HAC-007 (included with standard Nintendo Switch bundles) has three USB 2.0 ports, one USB-C AC Adapter port, and one HDMI port. In order to establish a wired internet connection, a USB LAN Adapter (sold separately) and an ethernet/LAN cable (sold separately) are required.
Are all Nintendo Switch systems compatible with the dock with LAN port?
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model systems that are updated to system version 11.0.0 or later are compatible with the dock with LAN port. Nintendo Switch Lite does not support TV mode, so it is not compatible with any dock.
Because Nintendo Switch has a shorter length, it will not fit into the dock with LAN port while NES controllers are attached. The NES controllers can be charged by connecting the AC Adapter directly to the USB-C connector on the Nintendo Switch system while they are attached.
How do I set up a wired internet connection using the dock with LAN port?
Follow our steps on How to Connect to the Internet Using a Wired Connection.
