Last year we hosted a gnome-along and shared over 40 free crochet gnome patterns. While creating the first few gnomes, I experimented with different methods, shapes, and sizes.
This adorable set of mini Easter gnomes was made last year and I didn’t find any chance to share it with you. Therefore, this year for Easter we will make some minis.
While designing I got the idea to make the minis match the bid set of Easter Gnomes- the Bunny Gnome and the Carrot Gnome!

Crochet Mini Easter Gnome Pattern
The pattern is written in US crochet terminology!
The pattern is written in US crochet terms.
The pattern is worked in one piece. We start from the hat and continue on the body.
The pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Do not join your rounds.
If you use a different weight of yarn, keep in mind that your gnome will turn out bigger or smaller.
I suggest you use a fine/sport or DK weight yarn with a 2.25-2.5mm hook to achieve the size.
When stuffing the body- stuff it well, but don’t overdo it.

Crochet Mini Easter Gnomes- Free Pattern
Materials you’ll need
– Sport weight yarn- Schachenmayr Catania 100% cotton, 125 m
Carrot colors: Orange 10gr, Light green 10gr, Dark green 5gr
Bunny colors: Cream/white 10gr, lilac 10gr, pink 5gr
– crochet hook size 2.5 mm
– fiber fill for stuffing
– tapestry needle
Stitch Abbreviation:
SC- single crochet
SS- slip stitch
CH- chain
Rep- repeat
Inc- increase (make 2 SC in the same stitch)
Dec- decrease ( work 2 SC stitch together)
MR- magic ring
– repeat the stitches in the **indicated times
FO- fasten off
BLO- back loop only
FLO- front loop only
Starting from the hat
-start with lilac for bunny, orange for carrot
Rnd 1-2: Start with a MR, and make 7 SC into it, (7)
Rnd 3: *SC in first, inc 1*3 times, SC in last (10)
Rnd 4: SC in each stitch around (10)
Rnd 5: *SC in next, inc 1*5 times, (15)
Rnd 6: inc 1, SC in next 14 (16)
Rnd 7: SC in each stitch around (16)
Rnd 8: *SC in next 3, inc 1, *4 times, (20)
Rnd 9-10: SC in each stitch around (20)
Rnd 11: *SC in next 4, inc 1, *4 times, (24)
Rnd 12-13: SC in each stitch around (24)
Rnd 14: *SC in next 5, inc 1, *4 times, (28)
Rnd 15-16: SC in each stitch around (28)
Rnd 17: *SC in next 6, inc 1, *4 times, (32)
Rnd 18: SC in each stitch around (32)
Rnd 19: *SC in next 7, inc 1, *4 times, (36)
Continue on hat’s brim
The next round is worked in Front loop only!
Rnd 20: *SC in next 3, inc 1* 9 times (45)

Rnd 23: SC in each stitch around (54). FO.
FO first color. Attach cream/white color for bunny, green color for carrot.
Rnd 20: Go back to round 19 and insert your hook in any back loop stitch, pull up a loop, SC in the same stitch, SC in each stitch around (36)
Rnd 21: *SC in next 8, inc 1* 4 times (40)
Rnd 22: *SC in next 9, inc 1* 4 times (44)
Rnd 23-31: SC in each stitch around (44)
Rnd 32: *SC in next 9, dec 1* 4 times (40)
Rnd 33: *SC in next 8, dec 1* 4 times (36)
Rnd 34: *SC in next 4, dec 1* 6 times (30)
Rnd 35: *SC in next 3, dec 1* 6 times (24)
Rnd 36: *dec 1* 12 times (12)
Rnd 37: *dec 1* 6 times (6)
Fasten off and close the gap with a needle.
Easter mini gnome’s nose:
-with a beige color
Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 6 SC into it (6)
Rnd 2: *inc 1* 6 times (12)
Rnd 3-5: SC in each stitch around (12) FO.
Crochet mini Easter bunny Gnome’s Ears (make 2)
-with cream/white
Rnd 1: Start with a MR, make 6 SC into it (6)
Rnd 2: *inc 1* 6 times (12)
Rnd 3: *SC in next 5, inc 1* 2 times (14)
Rnd 4: *SC in next 6, inc 1* 2 times (16)
Rnd 5-7: SC in each stitch around (16)
Rnd 8: *SC in next 6, dec 1* 2 times (14)
Rnd 9: SC in each stitch around (14)
Rnd 10: *SC in next 5, dec 1* 2 times (12)
Rnd 11-12: SC in each stitch around (12)
Rnd 13: *SC in next 4, dec 1* 2 times (10)
Rnd 14: SC in each stitch around (10) FO.
Mini Easter Bunny Gnome’s flowers:
-with any color (I used Pink)
Rnd 1: Start with a MR and make 5 SC into it. SS to join (5)
Rnd 2: *CH 2, 2 DC, CH 2, SS in the same stitch (we formed the first petal) * 4 times. You must have 5 petals in the end. FO.
Carrot Gnome’s beard
-with a dark green color
*CH 20, 3 SC in 2nd from your hook, 3 SC in each chain till you have 2 chains left, SC in each of the last 2 chains * 5 times. FO.
You must have 5 curls in the end!
Attaching chain:
Insert your hook in any stitch of rnd 1 and pull a loop, Ch 20-25 and insert your hook back into the same stitch. FO.
How to assemble your gnome:
Carrot Gnome
- First, sew the nose right below the hat’s brim.
- Sew the beard’s curl around the nose
Bunny Gnome
- First, sew the nose right below the hat’s brim
- Now take the ears and sew them above the hat brim. Attach them after 1-2 rows. It will be easier to attach the flowers later.
- Lastly, attach the flower over the ears.
Mini Carrot:
- With orange color
Rnd 1: Start with a MR, and make 5 SC into it (5)
Rnd 2: SC in each stitch around (5)
Rnd 3: *inc 1* 5 times (10)
Rnd 4-7: SC in each stitch around (10)
Rnd 8: *SC in next, inc 1* 5 times (15)
Rnd 9-15: SC in each stitch around (15)
Rnd 16: *SC in next, dec 1* 5 times (10)
Rnd 17: *dec 1* 5 times (5)
Carrot’s leaves
-with a green color
Insert your hook in any stitch of the last round and pull a loop, *CH 12, SS in the same stitch * 3 times. FO.
